Baby Shower Gift #3

My sister-in-law's baby shower was a few weeks ago, and I just realized that I forgot to post the gift set that I made for her.

Here's the whole package...appliqued onesie, baby shoes, and hair clips...

Flower appliqued onesie...

Another set of baby shoes.  LOVE!

And finally, some matching hair clips.

These gift sets were so much fun to make!!

If you missed the first two gift sets, you can find them HERE and HERE.

Baby Shower Gift #2

Today I'm finally able to share another baby shower gift with you.  This set went to my friend who is expecting her baby girl later this month.

I appliqued a polka dot flower on the onesie, and added a red center to match the shoes.

Oh, these shoes...I am in LOVE with them!  I think this color combo is my favorite so far.  Love the black/white/red together! (pattern here)

And, of course, the hair bows.  (tutorial here)

If you didn't see the first set I shared, you can find it HERE!

Baby Shower Gift

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I had been working on a sewing project, but had to wait to show you what I was making.  Well, the wait is over!

I've got 2 sister-in-laws that are expecting baby girls in the next few months.  This is the first for both of them, so I wanted to make something fun for their baby showers.

One of them had her baby shower last weekend, and here's what I made for her.

The baby's name is going to be Nadia, so I appliqued an 'N' on a onesie.  Making appliqued onesies has been on my 'To Do List' for years, and I don't know why I waited so long to give it a try.  Easiest gift ever, and it turned out adorable too!

The next part of my gift was these handmade baby shoes.  I am SO in love with these!!  The pattern can be purchased HERE from Make It and Love It.

And the final part of my gift was these cute baby bows.  I wanted the bows to match the fabric on the onesie & shoes, and found some ribbon in my stash that matched perfectly.  Love it when that happens! (the tutorial I used for the bows can be found HERE).

I wasn't able to attend the baby shower, but was told that my gift was a big hit!!

I've got 2 more sets to show you in the coming weeks.  One set got sent off to a friend in the mail yesterday (she's expecting her baby girl at the end of this month), and the last one will be given to my other sister-in-law in a few weeks.  Since I don't want to spoil the surprise, I'll wait until they've received their gifts before I share them on here!

Snowman Clips

A few weeks ago, I shared these snowman clips.  I spotted one of my daughter's friends wearing a different kind, and decided to try and duplicate it.  Here's what I came up with...

I made them just like my penguin clips, but left off the arms and googly eyes, and added a hat.  I thought about adding googly eyes and an orange nose, but thought they looked fine without them.  These ones are a lot simpler to make than the others, and just as cute if you ask me!

Penguin Hair Clips

My oldest daughter and I made a bunch of flower bows (like these) for the girls' friends for Christmas.  As we were busy making them, I was telling her that I needed to make some snowman clips too.  A lightbulb went off in her head, and she said, "Why don't you make some penguin clips?".

So this is what I came up with.

The penguins were made using THIS TUTORIAL as a guide.  I did end up cutting the ribbon for the body at different lengths than what the tutorial calls for....

White ribbon: cut at 3"
Black ribbon: cut at 4" & 5"

My daughters LOVE their little penguin clips, and all of their friends have requested some too!!  Guess I'd better get busy making more!

Snowman Bows

My younger 2 girls still like to wear hair bows, so when I saw these cute Snowman Bows online, I just had to make them some!

The tutorial can be found HERE from Funky Polkadot Giraffe via How Does She!

{Turkey Bows}

I couldn't let Thanksgiving pass us by this year without making these adorable Turkey Bows!!

I used THESE INSTRUCTIONS from Girly Things.  If you don't want to make them into hair bows, they could easily be adapted into a pin!

Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Flower Bows

For some reason, making bows is at the top of my 'Things I'm Obsessed With' list again.  My obsessions seem to go in cycles.  One month I'm totally obsessed with one thing, only to leave it by the wayside the next month for something else.  Sound familiar?  I hope I'm not the only one like this!!

Here's what I've been making lately....Layered Flower Bows.

This blue flower bow is my absolute favorite...

I used THIS TUTORIAL from Ten Cow Chick as a guide for my bows (she has some GREAT hair bow tutorials!).  To make the smaller flower in the middle, I followed Mariesa's instructions for the large flower, but cut my ribbon at 5".

Chick Hair Clips

I fell in love with the chick hair clips that are all over blogland, and just HAD to make some for my youngest daughter.

I used THIS TUTORIAL from Show, Tell, Share as a guide, but changed up the measurements a bit.  I cut my ribbon at the following measurements:

Body: 3", 4", & 5"
Face: 2.5"
Arms: 1.5"

Seriously...how cute are they?

Bunny Bows

It's been a while since I've made bows for my girls' hair, so I figured I'd get on the ball and make some fun Bunny Bows for spring.

If you want to make some of your own, there's a great TUTORIAL at Ten Cow Chick.

**FYI:  I wanted smaller bows, so I tweaked the measurements a little bit.  I cut the ribbon for the ears at 3.5", and for the body at 3", 4", & 5".  My bows ended up being approximately 3.5" long when finished.

Hair Pretties Galore!

I've mentioned before that my oldest daughter is trying to earn money to buy a laptop.  My 9-year-old decided it sounded like a good idea, so now she's looking for ways to earn money too.

This is what we've been making for the last couple of days.....to help them both make some moolah.

Aren't they so much fun?  My nieces and my cousin's little girls needed some 'hair pretties', so we learned how to make these pinwheel bows to sell to them.

I'm sad that we ran out of ribbon, cause I'm thinking we need some for us to keep too!!

I taught both my girls how to make basic bows too.  Don't they look great?!

Not sure why this picture is sideways, but here's some more basic bows.

We turned some of the rolled fabric flowers we made a few weeks ago into hair clips as well.  Love them!!

And we even threw in a few headbands too!

We had so much fun making these!  The girls have decided they want to have a booth at our local craft fair in November too.... so I guess we'll be working hard for the next couple of months making more hair pretties, bottle cap earrings, and whatever else we can think of to sell.  I've never had a booth in a craft fair before, so I'm not sure what to expect.  Do any of you have any advice?  Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated!!

Rolled Fabric Flower Headbands

If you're like me, you've seen these cute rolled fabric flowers all over blogland lately.  They're adorable!!  My oldest daughter is trying to think of ways to earn money (she's saving up for a laptop), so I made these headbands to see if it was something that she might be interested in.....

I taught her and my 9-year-old how to make them, and we had some 'girl time' making flowers.  It was a blast!!  We've got quite a few flowers made, but are waiting on more headbands to finish them off.  I promise I'll share the finished products when we're done!!

If you're looking for some great tutorials on making these, try HERE and HERE!
