I always make homemade birthday cards to give to family and friends, but for the last couple of years it's been a last minute thing to hurry and get some made. This year I decided to make them in advance, like I do for my parents' Christmas gift. So far I've gotten 3 months worth made.....yay!! I ran out of adhesive and blank cards, so once I get stocked back up on those, I'll get the rest of them made (I have to make 62 total, just for my family!).
These are some of the cards I've made so far. To make it easier on me, I try to make them all the same style, but use different papers so they're not all exactly the same.
So in honor of my New Year's Resolution, why not help you to be a bit more organized when it comes to birthday cards? How would you like to win a set of 8 birthday cards?!
The winner will receive 2 of each style shown here, along with the envelopes. Each card is 4"x5.5", and was handmade by your's truly!
So, now for the fun stuff.....to enter to win, here's what you need to do:
1. Become a follower and leave a comment letting me know you're one. If you're already a follower, just leave a comment saying so.
2. Leave me a comment telling me your tips on organization.
That's it! If you do both of these, then you have 2 chances to win! Oh, please leave a way for me to contact you in the event that you win in one or both of your comments too. I can only ship in the US, so no international entries, please!
This giveaway will close on Thursday, January 7th at midnight (MST), and I'll announce the winner Friday morning!
Good luck, and I can't wait to hear your tips on organization!

I made a birthday reminder book from an 8x8 album. It's great to open up whatever month is coming up, see all the birthdays and then grab a card from the back on the book where the extra pages make great card holders.
I've been slacking off BIG time in the organizing department so I'm ready for a fresh start in 2010! One of my biggest "stay organized" tips is to do a giant purge throughout the entire house every single year. I go through every drawer and every closet and every basket and cabinet and get rid of everything that I don't just have to have. We've been in this house for 5 years in February so my rule this year will be to get rid of anything that we haven't used (but kept for that "one day just in case") in the last 5 years. Purging takes time, but it always inspires me to get organized again!!
ok, so I just pulled out my card organizer just last night :) Time to refill it for the new year. I plan on doing a post later this week so ckeck back for pictures but here is what I do. A 3 ring binder, 3 of those pencil/pocket things that have a zipper you by for school supplies and I have the year split up to fit 4 months worth of cards in each. A paper for each month that has the date and name of each person with a birthday. In the pockets I put the cards and envelopes. SO I can just pull out my binder, check the date and the card is there ready to go. Hope that makes sence :)
Love your blog, love your comments on my blog too :) Here is to being organization!!

I have a hard time with getting the birthday cards in the mail for those that do not live close. So a couple of years ago I decided at the beginning of the year, I go through and address and stamp the envelopes, so all I have to do is grab the card, sign it and throw it in the mail. No more looking for the address and stamp.

I need help with organization too, but I am a big believer in things just having a place. if they do, It is much quicker to put away! I also have a binder organizing our familys personal info that is right by my front door ready to go in case of emergencies!
On every monday I try and make a meal plan for all the meals for that week! it seems to work out great! It keeps us from ordering take out or going out to eat :)

I would get a small filing cabinet with hanging folders to put all your important documents in. Then go through your house and decide what you want each shelf in your house to hold and label it. So when you're looking for something you will know where it should be by the label. You can even do this to your clothes in your dressers and closets.
Happy Organizing.

I need help organizing things too. But my goal this year is to stay on top of things so I am starting out by making sure everything has a place. If it has a place then hopefully things will stay organized. Now i just need to find places for all my stuff to go.

Thanks for the giveaway - my best tip on organization is have a place for EVERYTHING! Everything in my home has a home and my 3-year old is actually starting to learn where things actually belong herself - it's a great way to stay clutter free around the house!

My thoughts on organization. If we are talking about birthdays, when I start my new calendar in January I look back at the previous year and write down everyones birthday in Marker on the new calendar.
As for organization everywhere else. I am a teacher and I am continually telling myself, that if I would just put it where it goes when I am finished with it then I would be organized and know where everything was. Too bad I don't always listen to myself.

I have a birthday calendar that I always take a peek at the first of the month. I then have my card box I try to keep stocked all the time. Makes send or finding cards a lot easier. Your cards are adorable by the way! :)

I like to look at the website organizedhome.com and start each year with their challenge to get organized. I wish I could say I get past the first month but usually I just want to be organized but not really that organized. I do find that if I label things like my linen closet or drawers that things tend to get back in the same place.

my best advice for organization is do what works best for you. I've spent way to many hours trying to do something else somebody did and it just didn't fit my lifestyle, personality etc. also organization is NEVER ending, at least for me :) ; candra.wynne@yahoo.com

I have not orginizational skills!! Ha, ha, okay, my organizational tip is find a place for everything and make sure it's alway's in it's place :) That is what my sister-in-law always tells me! It has yet to happen in my abode!
My best tip would be to get rid of it!!!! I have to get rid of alot of stuff on a regular basis to keep organized other wise you wouldn't be able to find me or my son in all the stuff!!!!

im your newest follower...number 121!
my bestest organization tip is to keep the shoe boxes that your shoes come in.
i know, sometimes target doesnt have them and you will have to find an empty one somewhere.
but not only does it save you time when looking for your shoes, but it keeps them from getting all boogered up by other shoes. if you use a bucket, it saves space-but not time. and when you are running to do car pool/hot date with your hubby/workout/get the mail...you want to get out of there FAST!
Your cards are darling ;)

I still need help getting organized. But, the one rule I like to follow is that there is a place for everything and everything in it's place. That saves time searching for things.
I need a lot of help with organization Great items
Great cards & good idea to plan ahead! I'm already a follower, crossing fingers!
I'll be totally honest, I'm not the most organized person. However, one huge tip that really helps me is going through my mail right away. I get rid of all the junk mail right away & then sort things that need to be taken care of right away or can wait. This really helps out a lot!
I just became a follower :)
It sounds stupid, but my biggest tip on organization is not to get disorganized. If I leave a few things out, I start to make piles of stuff to deal with "later" but if my space is already neat, I am much less likely to mess it up :)

Oh, man...I am so unorganized! My tip is get a husband like mine. While his need to line the cans up perfectly in the pantry are annoying, the house looks nice!

My best organizational tip is storage. You need a place to keep all your stuff so you know where to find it, so go pick out some storage containers to keep it all in.

I just found your site...I'm addicted! I'm a nana to 8 little ones and own a family resort in MN. Love all your ideas! I am a follower as of today! And I need those cards...to get me organized of course! I make cards, and quilt and babysit grandkids...my big organizing idea.....clear bins! You can put anything in them, stack them and still see what's in them! I use them in my sewing room, stamping area, kitchen pantry, etc. They're gold!
have a great day!

One thing I like to do for organization is to use containers - photo boxes, accordion files, cigar boxes, whatever. Just something that I can put a category on and that will close (for neatness) and stack. This year I treated myself to a new file cabinet to help with organization. I am liking it so much, I may treat myself to another!
I am a new follower. What pretty birthday cards! Thanks! jacquecurl1@gmail.com
My closet was my biggest problem to organize. containers helped out alot! Summer clothes in containers, purses and shoes. Also, I donated things I no longer wore. What a difference! A bulletine board helps out too-for messages and receipts. jacquecurl1@gmail.com

My plan to organize better this year is to buy a nice small file cabinet. We have SOOO many papers that it's hard to keep the desk area nice and clean and it drives me crazy so then I stack Jason's papers to make it look a little decent and then the stack gets too high... anyways.. I need to decide things that are "ok" to throw out and things I really to to save and purchase the file cabinet to hold them! I'm really going to do it!!! I keep saying I'm going to but really.. the beginning of the new year sounds like a good time, right?
Hey Misty just thought that I would be one of your followers. Just don't stop to fast or I might run into you.
What you need to do is find a husband that picks up after you and puts everything where it belongs or you can train your kids to do it.
I label boxes with my label maker!

I'm the worst at organizing but here's something that I do to prevent clutter from entering my house. When I check my mail, I grab it and throw out the junk mail in the recycling bin while I'm still outside. It makes you sort your mail faster if you're outside freezing your butt off! ;D
