My Gathered Clutch Adventure...

Have you seen Noodlehead's awesome Gathered Clutch Tutorial?! I just had to make me some!
But if I'm going to be completely honest, it took me a total of 3 tries to get it right. Yep, THREE!! The first one I made was the red & white polka dot one pictured above. What did I do wrong? I wasn't paying attention while sewing it together and used the wrong piece for the lining....making it quite a bit shorter than the outside of the clutch. But it's still functional!

On my second try, I didn't sew it up very well, and once it was turned right side out, it didn't look very pretty.  And after my kids played with it for a while, the zipper became stuck......now we can't get it open.

The third time was a charm!!  My green polka dot one turned out perfect.  Except for the crooked black piece (just pretend that you don't notice!).  I was happy to finally have one turn out like it was supposed to!!  Yay!!

Blog Swap with A Little Tipsy!

Hi There! I am so excited to be here on Creative Itch today! Misty is amazing and I love all her little boy ties! Too cute!

Michelle, from A Little Tipsy here, taking the wheel for the day!

Nope not drunk (what a relief you will not be taking your tour with a drunk driver), I may or may not be a bit clumsy though.

A little about me, I am a SAHM with one crazy two year old boy and a big geek for a husband (don't worry, he calls himself a geek). I love keeping busy and sharing all my projects and adventures whether they be Home decor, holiday projects, or discovering how to get permanent marker off granite counter tops.

Here are a few of my favorite projects as of late.

I wanted a cute new accessory and in the honor of things warming up, I made a fun headband.

Then, my porch wanted to join in on the springtime fun so it got a makeover.

Decorate Your Porch for Spring with $5

Along with the front door...

$6 Berry Wreath

I did a whole week dedicated to fun baby things I made for my new niece. Here are a couple of highlights.

I like trying out new recipes and find that they tend to be dessert most of the time. ;)

But I did make this dinner recipe up the other day.

Cheesy Pesto Chicken Rolls
I love fun little ideas for the kiddos like these...

Cute Sock Bean Bags

I almost always have a fun giveaway running so be sure check the left sidebar for the latest. This week is a Family Photo Shoot!

Well, I guess that about wraps things up. Thanks to Misty for swappin' it up and thanks to you for letting me be your tour guide today. Watch your step on the way out and don't forget to come visit soon!

*******Isn't Michelle great?!  I love those cute sock bean bags, and the pomegranate blueberry shakes look divine!!  Have a great Memorial Day Weekend everyone!!  Be safe!!*******

My Favorite Brownies

These are seriously the best brownies ever!!  My girls and I made these a lot last spring/summer for some bake sales, and they were always one of our best sellers!
Here's the recipe:

4 eggs, beaten
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1/3 c. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. margarine
1 bag miniature marshmallows

Combine eggs, sugar, flour, and vanilla.  Melt margarine and add cocoa.  Add to egg mixture and mix well.  Bake in a greased 9x13 pan at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.  As soon as brownies are taken from the oven, cover w/marshmallows.  Return pan to oven until marshmallows are slightly melted.  Pour chocolate frosting over marshmallows and cool before cutting.

Chocolate Frosting:
1/2 c. margarine, melted
1/3 c. milk
3 Tbsp. cocoa
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine margarine, milk, and cocoa.  Beat in sugar and vanilla.

**I've found that these turn out lots better if you make them the night before you want to serve them.  It gives the frosting time to set up and makes it easier to cut them.
**For 8x8 pans, the baking time is 15-20 minutes.

Fun with Juice Pouches

**Update:  Some of you have expressed an interest in a tutorial for the wallets and notepad holder.  I wish I could provide one for you, but I bought a pattern online showing me how to make them and can't reproduce the pattern in any form.  If you're interested in the patterns, you can find them HERE.
**The purses/bags and headbands are a different story.  I made those on my own, and would be willing to do a tutorial for them if you'd like!  Just let me know by leaving a comment!

I've mentioned before that my awesome SIL has been saving/collecting empty juice pouches for me. These are just a few of the things I've been making with them:

I'm loving these cute wallets....
There's plenty of space for your bills.....

....and for your change!

A fun notebook holder lined with fabric that has a place for your pen/pencil.

And a reversible headband! I'm still trying to work out the kinks on this one so it's easier to make, but it's still pretty cute!

I've got 7 messenger bags in the works, along with a few other things I'll hopefully be able to share soon! I LOVE making stuff out of juice pouches, but HATE that my stash never seems to stay stocked up for long! I guess I need to be more assertive about collecting them....even if it means digging through the trash when I see some there(or making my kids do it for me;)!

Write It Out Project Journals

I'm happy to say that I've completed the two journals that I pledged for Service Boot Camp!  These journals are for the Write It Out Project, and I'm so happy that I decided to make some!

I wish that I could have made more, but May is a very busy month at our house!!  I'm putting together a ideas of 'projects' that my kids can do during the summer, and this one is on the list!  I'm hoping to help them each make one that we can donate at a later time!

If you haven't heard of the Write It Out Project, you can read about it HERE!   They are still accepting pledges for journals, and if you don't sew, you can donate $5.00 to cover the cost of shipping the journals.  Any way you can help is appreciated!!

Accordion Albums

I've been itching to do some paper crafting for a few weeks now, but haven't been able to find the time or the inspiration. Until I saw THESE cute Accordion Albums at eighteen25. I put them on my "To Do" list, not knowing when I'd be able to get around to making them (May is a busy month!). Luckily, it didn't take me too long to find the time to make a few!

The colors in this picture are off for some reason....but you get the idea!
